FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which paternity test option should I choose?

We offer two primary categories of paternity testing depending on your needs:

    • Legal Paternity Test: This is our most recommended option, especially if the child is a minor (under 18). These results are admissible in court and can be used for legal matters such as child support hearings, amending birth certificates, or immigration.
    • “Peace of Mind” Test: If you strictly want to know the truth for personal reasons and do not intend to use the results in a court of law, this is the most cost-effective solution.
  • Can testing be performed if the potential father is deceased?

Yes. There are a few ways to handle this situation:

    • Recent Passing: We can utilize a DNA sample or an FTA blood card from the deceased. These samples are typically collected by a funeral home director or coroner. Please note that using these non-standard samples involves an additional fee. These results can often be used for Social Security or survivor benefit claims.
    • Unavailable/Long-term Deceased: If the father’s DNA is not accessible, but his parents are alive, we highly recommend a Grandparentage DNA Test. If we can prove the grandparents are related to the child, paternity can be legally established.
  • Is it possible to conduct a test without the father knowing?

Yes. If the alleged father is unwilling to submit to a swab or you wish to test discreetly, we can attempt to extract DNA from personal items. Common items include a toothbrush, fingernail clippings, ear swabs, or eating utensils.

    • Please contact us at 877-418-2446 EXT 1 for specific pricing and instructions on how to handle and ship these items to ensure the DNA is not contaminated.
  • How does the DNA testing process work?

The process is simple and streamlined:

    1. Book: Schedule your appointment online or by calling us.
    2. ID: Arrive at your appointment with a valid Government-Issued Photo ID (required for all participants 18 and older).
    3. Collection: All parties will have a cheek swab collected by our administrators.
    4. Results: Samples are shipped to our accredited lab. You will typically receive your results within 2 business days via email or during a scheduled in-office consultation.
  • Can I get my results over the phone?

For security and privacy reasons, we do not provide results over the phone. Results will be sent securely via email, or you may schedule a time to pick them up in person at our office. If mediation is required, we can also arrange for the results to be revealed in the office with all parties present.

  • Is my personal information kept private?

Absolutely. We adhere to strict privacy standards. We will never release your case information to unauthorized individuals. We strictly follow any specific communication instructions you provide regarding how we should contact you or other involved parties.

  • What is your cancellation and refund policy?

    • Rescheduling: If you need to change your appointment time, please contact us at 877-418-2446 EXT 1 at least 24 hours in advance.
    • Refunds: Please be aware that we maintain a strict No Refund policy. All sales are final.
